silicone in the kitchen

I’ve embraced the new in my kitchen! Silicone has great flexibility and an extremely high heat-resistance which makes it ideal for so many cooking tasks. I use silicone heat mats and pot holders, cake tins and muffin trays, spatulas for cooking or scraping bowls, egg poaching pods and ice cube trays, ties for roasting meat, wine stoppers, tongs, an egg whisk, egg flips and egg rings and last but not least, a pig which can be used as a cartouche (a lid inside the pot to retain moisture) or for covering dishes when re-heating food in the microwave!
